Collin County Genealogical Society is committed to helping all researchers discover their roots by presenting educational programs on topics ranging from computer-aided research, genealogy software, and DNA testing to teaching the time honored standards of "citing sources", judging reliability of "evidence", and discovering techniques for finding that elusive ancestor; hosting workshops and seminars to provide individuals with hands-on research; recording, preserving, and publishing Collin County records of interest to genealogists; supporting the Plano Public Library System's Genealogy Corner through purchases and donations of books and materials that aid in genealogical research.
CCGS program meetings featuring guest speakers are on the second Wednesday of each month September - June from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Article III of our CCGS bylaws includes this statement of objectives:
"The sole purpose of this organization shall be to promote an interest in genealogical research, by
assisting members with their research, by helping to preserve local records, and by providing
support for the genealogy section of the Plano Public Library System and other genealogical and
historical archives and organizations."
